Description: Soul Blazer is a semi-sequel to ActRaiser, in which you must fight enemies, release souls and rebuild the world. The premise sounds similar to ActRaiser, with two key differences: you don't play as God this time, but rather a hero who can hear him. The action is not side-scrolling, but rather top-down similar to Zelda (and its own sequel, Illusion of Gaia).
While not as complex as ActRaiser, A Link to the Past, or Illusion of Gaia... Soul Blazer is an excellent blend of hybrid gameplay at an early time in the SNES's life. The game itself is challenging, large and full of side quests and treasure.
ActRaiser soon got an official sequel, ActRaiser 2, which didn't have any God game-style sim mode. Soul Blazer eventually got its own sequel, Illusion of Gaia, which also doesn't have a sim mode (and then Terranigma, the second sequel to Soul Blazer, had an integrating town-building quest).

Why You Should Play It: If you enjoyed Zelda and ActRaiser, and wish there was a happy medium between the two, then play this. If you were disappointed with ActRaiser 2, then this should fulfill your appetite for a more accurate sequel. If you enjoyed Illusion of Gaia and want to play its prequel, try this.
